My everyday routine as a hindu wife

(part one)

Being clean and making an effort with your beauty is important in different traditions and parts of life.

So I wake up early, shower and dress up in my respectful indian wife clothing.

Do my day make-up which includes my bindhi, kajal and kumkum.

Put on my accessories including visual markers of marital status such as toe/finger rings.

I wear bangles to match my outfit everyday because It is a tradition to wear bangles after marriage : symbolizing health, luck, and prosperity. Bangles are more than accessories for Indian women and women married by indian men. (Depending on the culture and tradition you chose to follow as a couple.)

The earrings I'm wearing are called Jhumka in India. The jhumka, also known as jhumki, have maintained their status throughout history in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh as coveted earrings. The origin of this popular earring style can be traced back to ancient temple statues(which make them as old as 300s BCE).

Since earliest times, wearing ear ornaments by married Indian women has been considered auspicious.

Besides adding a charm to your face, the ears contain the nerves that connect to the eyes and to reproductive organs (only for females). Wearing gold earrings causes friction and helps improve eyesight. Moreover, wearing earrings also has an acupuncture effect on the body.

The Morning Pooja im doing is backed by the Om Jai Lakshmi Mata Mantra. It all has an auspecious meaning.
